Westbourne Park Primary school will open its classroom doors, halls and ovals to the community and old scholars when it holds its Old Scholars Reunion and Centenary Fair on the 24th and 26th of October, collectively called The Centenary Weekend.
Celebrating its centenary this year, Westbourne Park Primary School will host this event to mark 100 years of teaching excellence and as a celebration of this important milestone.
“The Centenary Weekend will be one of the centenary year highlights for the current student body, parents, old scholars and community alike,” said Principal Mr David Adams. “We wanted to ensure it was a weekend for all to enjoy and so have packaged the two events into one weekend full of reminiscence and fun.”
The weekend will commence on Friday 24th October with the Old Scholars Reunion including tours, the Old Scholars Assembly (where old scholars will be dismissed one last time by the principal) and finishing with a social event. A highlight of the reunion is the Centenary Exhibition which will be held in the school hall from 1 to 6pm and will feature submissions from each of the current classes, photographs and captions submitted by past students, memorabilia and the contents of past time capsules. The School’s Centenary book will be launched at this event too and will be available for purchase at the reunion and the fair.
“The exhibition will also be open from 8.30am on Friday for our current students and parents to enjoy it as well as our reunion attendees. We are really excited about the reunion and welcoming back past students to see how the school has changed over the years,” Mr Adams said.
The Centenary Fair will be held on Sunday 26th October from 10am to 3pm and will offer sideshows, face painting, fashion parades, musical performances, gourmet food stalls, a chocolate wheel, silent auction, white elephant stall, competitions and more. Kids can meet ABC Kids favourite, Peppa Pig and enjoy the ‘Centenary Trail’ which will include giveaways from many of the stalls.
“The Centenary Fair is sure to be a fun-filled day for school families and the wider community and what a wonderful way to mark 100 years of quality education at WPPS. The school community is proud to be a part of this event at what is an historical and significant milestone in the life of the school” said Mr Adams.
