Government services go on the road for regional SA

Wednesday, 31 August 2016

Small Businesses in the Victor Harbor and Murray Bridge regions of SA will get a unique opportunity next week to connect with a number of local, State and Federal Government agencies that provide services and advice to small businesses.

The Office of the Small Business Commissioner will be holding the popular BizLink Seminars in Victor Harbor and Murray Bridge on Wednesday, September 7.

The Small Business Commissioner, John Chapman, has been leading the BizLink Seminars for more than 18 months and has seen increasing levels of attendance. Businesses can expect to hear from local, state and Federal organisations working in the areas of compliance, business growth, registrations and licences, safety and staff responsibilities and dispute resolution.

Other agencies taking part include AusIndustry Business Services, SafeWork SA, Environment Protection Authority and the Department of State Development. Local councils and Regional Development Australia are also involved.

BizLink Seminars:

  • Victor Harbor, 10am – 1pm, Council Chambers, 1 Bay Road, Victor Harbor
  • Murray Bridge, 5pm – 8pm, Chaffey Learning Centre, 52-68 Swanport Road, Murray Bridge.

Registration to attend these events is essential and can be done through the Office of the Small Business Commissioner website at or by contacting the office on 8303 2026.

Quotes attributable to Small Business Minister Martin Hamilton-Smith

Small businesses operators are very busy people and don’t always have time to have lengthy phone calls or shop around for the help they need.

These BizLink Seminars are a way to bring many of those services together in one place and take some of the frustration out of getting information and advice. Many business owners who have attended these events in the past are surprised at the number of services that are available from government and have provided positive feedback about the range of relevant content and information on offer.

Quotes attributable to Small Business Commissioner John Chapman

Connecting with and supporting small business in Regional South Australia is something that I, as Small Business Commissioner am committed to. In recent weeks I have visited Whyalla regularly, speaking to businesses which have been affected by the administration of Arrium.

Quotes attributable to City of Victor Harbor Mayor Graham Philp

The City of Victor Harbor is committed to supporting and growing our local business community, and is pleased to be involved in the BizLink Seminar.

There are a number of resources and tools available to assist local businesses, the challenge is to make sure people know how to access this support.

The BizLink Seminar will help businesses connect with key government agencies and is an excellent opportunity for businesses to learn about the support that is available.
